public:code-of-conduct
This is the current code of conduct on the noticeboard. It needs updating.
Sheffield Hackspace - Code of Conduct
Sheffield Hackspace provides a safe, open, and inclusive community where all our members and visitors should feel welcome. We encourage participation from all sections of the community and no one should be excluded from participation due to gender, sexuality, employment status, age, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, class, religion, or disability.
This code applies to everyone's conduct on all public hackspace communication channels (such as Discord), as well as in the Hackspace itself. As such:
1. it is unnaceptable to harass or discriminate against others for any reason
2. all communications should be civil and swearing kept to a minimum, as the conduct of all members reflects on the image of the hackspace as seen by outsiders
3. personal attacks will not be tolerated
If you ignore the code, there is a three strikes and out policy. In the first instance, you will be issued with an informal warning, a second instance will be a formal warning and for persistent breaches, expulsion procedures from the hackspace (as per our Articles of Association) will be enacted.
If you witness and breaches of this code, or have any other concerns, please contact one of the directors in the first instance. The directors are powerless to fix problems they aren't aware of. The issue will be passed on to all of the directors (excluding any directors who may have been involved in the incident) and having established the facts (through discussion with those involved), a majority vote of the directors will establish the response (no action, an informal or formal warning, or expulsion procedures). The directors also have the option to bring in independent mediation if necessary. Should an incident be considered sufficiently severe, the directors reserve the right to move directly to expulsion procedures (requires a unanimous vote from uninvolved directors).
If you have any comments or questions related to this, please let me know, mail to: trustees@sheffieldhackspace.org.uk
